Date and place of birth: 5 November 1987, in Ga Mashashane Village, Polokwane, Limpopo

Management style: I would describe my management style as collaborative and supportive. I prioritise open communication and strive to create an environment where team members feel empowered to take ownership of their work. I actively seek input and value diverse perspectives, as I believe they lead to more innovative solutions and stronger team engagement. Additionally, I consider myself a flexible leader, I adapt my approach based on the needs of the team and the specific situation to ensure we achieve the best outcomes.
Personal best achievement: One of my most fulfilling personal achievements has been witnessing the growth and success of the colleagues I have mentored and managed throughout my career. It has been particularly rewarding to see them excel in their roles, receive promotions and advance into higher levels. Hearing updates about their progress and accomplishments has been a testament to the effectiveness of my leadership and mentorship, and it continues to motivate me to support and develop others in their professional journeys.
Person you would most like to meet: It would have been Maya Angelou... but the next in line will be Michelle Obama, for her authentic leadership and resilience
Philosophy of life: Be authentic —stay true to who you are, no matter the external pressures or expectations. Honesty and genuineness are the foundation of a meaningful life
Message for other women leaders in the business community: Be assured that you are capable of leading change and making a difference. All you need to do is believe in yourself and your abilities
Asha Mambo
Position: Territory Manager, Orica Tanzania
Main activity of company: Explosives supply and blasting services
Date of birth and place: 16 October 1984 and Iringa, Tanzania.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering.
Management style: I would describe my preferred management style as a combination of participative and coaching. I want to see my team get involved in decision making and explore options, this makes the team more proactive in solving scenarios which encourages creativity and innovation. Providing regular feedback and identifying areas of improvement ensures the efficiency of the team members.
Personal best achievement: Being the first woman Underground Mining Superintendent in the country, which motivates young girls that it can be done and proves that underground mining is not only for males. This paved the way for other females within the country to explore mining.
Person you would most like to meet: It would be Indira Gandhi, the first female Prime Minister of India. Her leadership was marked as one of the most significant changes for economic and social reforms, inspiring women around the globe. Her legacy serves as a testament to the power of female leadership, demonstrating that women can excel at the highest levels.
Philosophy of life: Live your life deliberately, the world is going to weigh you down with decisions that you'll have to make every single day. Life is a series of tradeoffs and opportunity costs and no matter what you choose, make sure you're living your own life deliberately. Be present and enjoy now, there are too many distractions in this world and your mind will always race to figure out the next thing to do, but every now and then get out and enjoy being alive.
Message for other women leaders in the business community: Your voice is important, let people hear you. You are capable of many things, get out there and do it, you can change the world.
